How to repair many Internet Explorer ie problems

Description Internet Explorer is the most popular Internet browser available. As part of the Microsoft package it is installed on the majority of people's computers when purchased, a major part of its success. While other browsers such as Firefox are becoming more popular because they are reportedly less prone to virus and spyware attack Internet Explorer retains its majority of the market share.

In order to speed up the loading of web pages and to increase user functionality Internet Explorer, like other browsers stores a copy of web pages and web elements in the Internet cache. If these elements or pages are needed again in the future IE can open them from the cache rather than having to download them and open them from the Internet. This really does save time when it works properly.

The unfortunate thing about this method of storing cache is that your temporary Internet folder, another name for Internet cache, can quickly fill with files. When this happens it can cause problems with your system as a whole and your Internet Explorer application.

Associated Errors The most common problem with Internet Explorer is that it begins to run slowly when there are too many temporary files, cookies, or other files. Browsing becomes slow and heavy going while some page elements may not load properly or at all. You may also receive error pages and error messages.

Some spyware applications and viruses are stored within the cache directory of your browser. These can cause an increase in the number of advertising popups and other forms of advertisements that you receive on your system, but they can also have a much more sinister intent. Some security threats can open a backdoor to your system in order that hackers and other third parties can gain complete access to your system and all your personal data from a remote location. While it is more common that these will install within the system folder and other folders on your computer, you may find that they will reinstall once removed if left in your Internet cache.

Recommended Solution The first step to take is to clear out Internet Explorer. This can be done quickly and easily through the browser window. Select the Tools menu and click on Internet Options. Ensure that the General tab is selected (this is usually selected by default).

Delete Cookies this button removes all cookies from IE. Cookies are small files that include user settings for certain websites. The cookies in your browser will not typically be infected but too many cookies can cause your browsing experience to slow down or grind to a complete halt

Delete Files This deletes the Internet cache, or temporary Internet files from your system. This is the main area to concentrate on and, for complete protection and to rid your browser of particularly troublesome errors, you should highlight the Delete All Offline Content checkbox that is displayed when you click this button.

You may also consider clearing your Internet history to further improve the performance of your Internet Explorer although in some cases the difference is negligible.

Also run antispyware and antivirus software to find any threats that may be causing problems with IE. Always ensure that you have saved any important data and close down other applications before starting the scan. Also download the latest definition and signature databases to ensure you are scanning for the latest and potentially most potent threats.
