Clearing Skype Voicemails
Download Privacy Controls for Free!
Skype is billed as being an Instant Messenger but, in actual fact, provides the services of much more than this. As well as providing a secure method to chat online with friends, colleagues, and clients or suppliers Skype can be used to make and receive voice calls. As with most phone services it is possible to have Skype collect voicemail whenever you aren't around to take the call personally. It is also possible to send voicemail without attempting to initiate a two way phone call.
Why Securely Remove Voicemails?
The voicemail options that Skype offers are extensive but every voicemail you receive takes up invaluable space on your hard drive. It is also a relatively simple way for hackers to gain access to personal information. Voicemails deleted manually through Windows can often be restored by using specialist data recovery software. By overwriting the file before deletion this method of recovery can be further prevented. As such ParetoLogic Privacy Controls offers three levels of secure deletion ranging from one overwrite pass to seven passes.

4 – Deletion Method Setting

Also on the Options page is a drop down box in the bottom right hand corner of the screen that enables you to select the level of deletion you want to use. There are four options to choose from:
No Overwrite Passes.
ParetoLogic Privacy Controls uses overwrite passes to ensure that
secure deletion really is secure. It means that any remnants of the
file that can be recovered are unlikely to contain original data.
Using no overwrite passes means deleting the files as you would
manually through Windows explorer. This option is not generally
advised because it does not offer any level of security to users.
One Overwrite Pass. This option, also referred to as the
Quick deletion, offers more security because the file will be
overwritten once before deletion. Some traces of the file may still
be found, although far fewer than if no overwriting were done.
Three Overwrite Passes. This is a secure method of deletion
that overwrites files three times before they are deleted. This is
generally a secure method of deletion and should be adequate for
most user's needs.
Seven Overwrite Passes. This is the most secure deletion
method overwriting files a conclusive seven times before deletion.
This is perfect for extremely sensitive data or for anyone that
wants total control over their personal privacy.
