What Is The Allow List?

The Allow list of Spam Controls is a vital aspect of the application that helps to ensure you do not miss important emails from genuine contacts. Sometimes, genuine emails can be mistakenly flagged as being spam, and in these instances you may lose important information contained within those emails. The Allow List can be accessed through the main Spam Controls dashboard while the list can be populated using the main application, through your email application, or by using the automated features that are a major part of the Spam Controls benefit.

The Allow List Screen

In order to view senders that are currently on your Allow list open the Spam Controls dashboard and click on the Allow List link in the top left of the main screen. There are essentially three component to this page. The first, data entry box, is for the manual addition of single email addresses and domains.

Manually Adding Email Addresses

To manually add an email address to the list of Allowed senders, simply type the address into this first box and then click the Add button. This will populate the large pane of the window with that address and ensure that any emails you receive from this address will be delivered promptly into your Inbox.

Adding Domains To The Allow List

It is also possible to use this screen in order to add entire domain addresses. The domain of an email address is the section that appears after the @ symbol. If you are in regular contact with a number of people from the same company then adding the email domain of that company offers a method to ensure you always receive their emails. Type in the domain and click Add.

Removing Entries From The Allow List

If you have accidentally added a user to your Allow list or now wish to remove an email address from the Allow List then this can be easily done by highlighting the entry you wish to remove and clicking the Remove button. This will remove the email or domain from the list and will initially mean that any communication received from that email will be scanned and checked for spam content.

Simply removing a name from the Allow list does not mean that email from that address will be treated as spam. Instead it will be treated like any other email from an unrecognized sender – it will be scanned and checked for spam content before any action is taken. In order to treat email from that sender as spam you will need to add the email address to the Block List.

Adding A Sender To The Allow List Using The Email Toolbar

When you installed Spam Controls you should have been given the option to add a toolbar to your existing email client (Outlook or Outlook Express). Within this toolbar there is an Allow Sender button. This button can be accessed and used from any of the email folders on your system. Highlight the appropriate email and click the Allow Sender button.

A Single Click Import Of Email Addresses From Your Address Book

Most email users have a well populated address book containing email addresses belonging to genuine contacts. It is important that these email addresses be added to the Spam Controls Allow List so that you don't miss out on important email from important contacts. However, going through and manually adding each entry would be time consuming at best. In order to facilitate a quicker addition of all contacts in your address book Spam Controls contains a single click solution.

On the Allow List page click the Import Address Book. This will automatically look for Outlook and Outlook Express address books and import all the email addresses found into the Allow List. All of the found emails will be populated in the main pane of the screen. This process negates the need to add each of your addresses individually.
